All about Weathering

One area of modeling that has grown, developed so much, and so far is weathering. When I began plastic modeling, weathering the finished model was an after-thought and only done if the modeler dared risk his ‘perfect’ paint job, or dared to venture into the realm of the ‘grown up modellers, Today, if a plastic or even a realistic wooden model isn’t weathered, it’s usually seen as the modeller didn’t do his job completely.

What Paint should I use

When I was younger, there were just two kinds or brands of model paint for plastic models. ‘Testors’ in little square glass bottles, and ‘Humbrol’ in little round metal cans, and both of these were enamel. Oh, have times changed!

Getting Started in Plastic Modeling

Most people have heard about or know someone who's build plastic models, usually it’s someone older like your Grandpa or maybe even your dad, or you’ve seen models in the local museum you visited on a school trip, a weekend out with family, friends, or even online.

1/20 Boulogne Etaples

Billing Boats 534 1/20 scale Boulogne Etaples. This original design can be seen in many ports along the French Channel. The boats are socalled stern trawlers, in which the net is pulled in using a tricing line in the rear of the boat. The hull is of steel; and the length is 11 m.

1/65 Swedish Warship Vasa

The warship model kit of the Swedish boat Vasa 1/65 contains one of the most detailed replicas of the history on the market, especially thanks to a large number of carvings on its stern, not forgetting some in the bow. Of course, the Vasa ship model includes a large set of decoration parts in die-cast and photo-etched, which gives the ship a spectacular beauty.
